RECENTLY ADDED FEATURES
>> Update for the surfcaster
LIVE AS OF 2024.05.24
As the GotOne app expands we are working to include more features for a variety of different anglers. Recently we’ve added a new location option for the Massachusetts DMF striper survey so anglers can now log their catches as being shore or boat caught.
>> The skunk
LIVE AS OF 2024.04.22
Every day of fishing is different and some days you simply can’t buy a bite. As tough as “skunking” is, great anglers know that logging those rough sessions is just as important as taking down notes about your biggest catch. GotOne is now offering the ability to log a “skunk” as your catch! So you will have data to tell you when not to fish a spot in addition to all your other catches which will make you an even more competent angler! We also added actual fish to the species list! Now users can log weakfish as well as black drum and jack crevalle. Multiple bugs were fixed and we added context-sensitive help bubbles to the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries Striper Study and the Hogy Albie Survey screens
Check out our video that explains “The Skunk”!
>> Redfish data collection
LIVE AS OF 2024.02.29
New for the 2024 season GotOne is aiding the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commision and the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to gather data on redfish catches to supplement their research! When you log a redfish you can opt in to sending your data to the ASMFC if you are on the Atlantic or the LDWF if you are fishing in Louisiana state waters. We’ve expanded our species list yet again with the additions of mahi mahi and sheepshead. Improvements were also made to the “Species caught by moon phase” chart. Now the horizontal or x axis shows the moon fraction (waxing crescent, waning gibbous, etc…)
>> New tuna species
LIVE AS OF 2024.01.23
We listened to your requests and since our last update, the GotOne team has introduced six new species of tuna! Now you can pick between bluefin, yellowfin, albacore, bigeye, skipjack, and blackfin tuna. Also, when uploading past fishing photos, data is now collected from when the photo was originally taken instead of when it was uploaded.
>> Hogie albie survey
LIVE AS OF 2023.10.02
New for the 2024 season GotOne has teamed up with Hogy Lures to create the Hogy Albie Survey! When you catch and log a false albacore along the Atlantic coastline, GotOne will ask you if you’d like to share your catch data with the team at Hogy Lures. As a leading brand in the fishing industry, especially for false albacore lures, it is important for Hogy to understand exactly what gear allows for the best catch and release practices. With your help they can produce more lures to better suit your wants and needs as an environmentally conscious angler. For further information check out ASGA and the New England Aquarium!
>> Logging catches without service
LIVE AS OF 2023.9.25
Are you fishing a spot so secluded that cell phone service can’t even find you? GotOne now allows you to log catches without a network connection, the photo and all of the data associated with it will be saved in the app and will upload to the cloud when you’re back home. We also fixed multiple bugs as well as created an improved “system” for reporting striped bass catches to the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries.
>> Expanded log entry data
LIVE AS OF 2023.8.08
We’ve added the ability to record additional catch log data, including whether the fish was released or kept, the condition of the fish, method of angling, and angler notes.
>> Support for Massachusetts DMF striped bass research study
LIVE AS OF 2023.8.08
We are very excited to announce a new partnership to support research by the Massachusetts Division of Marine Fisheries into striped bass catch and release handling and mortality. Now GotOne users can participate in the study as citizen scientists!
>> Advanced personalization and preferences
LIVE AS OF 2023.8.08
Users can now set the preferred order of species!
>> Voice-enabled catch logging
LIVE AS OF 2023.8.08
Voice commands will make in-the-moment logging even easier—especially when you’re in the rain, in three-foot wells, with a fish in your hands.
>> Satellite Maps
LIVE AS OF 2023.4.21
We’ve implemented hybrid satellite maps so that you can see key geographical features related to your catches. You can now see if you caught your fish along a channel edge, a flat, or off a rip line.
>> Delayed catch logging
LIVE AS OF 2023.4.6
In the heat of the moment, it can be easy to forget to log your catch. So we've added the ability to log a catch after a fishing trip. With this new feature, you select the date, time, and location of your catch—then the app automatically records the corresponding data (moon phase, tide stage, water temperature, and more).
>> Offline catch logging
LIVE AS OF 2023.1.1
Our most requested feature is now available.
You asked for it, you got it! We’re excited to announce the addition of offline catch logging, which means you can log a catch even when you’re out of cell and wifi range!
When you log a catch without an internet connection, GotOne will display an icon, indicating that the catch is logged locally and awaiting a connection to be fully recorded.
2023 Q3-4 UPCOMING FEATURE PRIORITIES
>> Photo-enabled catch logging
Got the photo you took on your phone when you caught that fish? This feature will allow you to use it as a catch entry. The app will use the photo to automatically log the date, time, location—and the corresponding detailed data.
